The third module was devoted to category management and master data, and we were again guided through the module by the great couple Miloš Olejník and Zdeněk Pytlíček (GasNet CZ). Both supporting topics were intertwined during the module and it was clearly confirmed that without quality data it is difficult to carry out category management. We learned about the eight basic cycles of category management, how to analyze data using ABC analysis, the Kraljic matrix, the A.T.Kearney procurement board and more.

Zdenek Pytlíček's internal statistics were interesting, and he noted in the lower left quadrant of Kraljic's matrix for 'non-critical' items that 74% of purchased items constitute only 0.4% of their annual purchase volume. Zdeněk, a well-known promoter of automation and robotics, clearly recommended the use of e-catalogs for this type of purchase. According to him, with these commodities it is important to connect the internal customer with the supplier, set the rules of the game and exit the process.

The second part of the module was devoted to the introduction of two category management tools. According to Luboš Libiak (Cirtuo), procurement can be a company's competitive advantage and our goal should be to get the most value from the supply chain. We also showed how to use Cirtuo to create a standardized procurement strategy for a given commodity. The final block belonged to Zdenek Mikeš and Tomáš Farid Kozák (SAP) and the new SAP Ariba Category Management tool. A solution that, according to Zdenek Mikeš, was created by people from procurement - category management for category managers. We went through the system in real time and, for example, with the Category Spend profile, we very clearly visualized the overview by category and by our own supplier. So the Friday block was more than successful.
