Fragments I. – Friday Finale with Jan Rak about Reality and the Meaning of Life

We are starting the retrospective series of the eBF festival unconventionally with the program of the last day, that is, Friday. This year, the 'round tables' were replaced by a presentation from a single speaker, nuclear and quantum physicist Jan Rak, who worked for many years at CERN, where he worked on the largest particle accelerator.

A full house on Friday confirmed the correctness of the choice for the final speaker. Even after demanding days and nights filled with dancing, eBF participants were still eager for new information. The main topic of Jan Rak's presentation was thought and reality, and he also touched on scientifically approached philosophical questions about the meaning of life. It was fascinating to see how even expert thoughts could be presented with humor and perspective.

The first ten minutes were challenging with mathematical equations, where terms like decimal and binary systems, real and complex numbers, symmetry groups, associative and commutative properties, and more were mentioned. However, we managed it together and demonstrated the wide range of solutions and perspectives on the formula 1+1=. The entire lecture continued in a similarly fascinating manner, prompting you to think, explore, and seek answers.

For those who missed Jan Rak in Ostrava, you can visit his laboratory, where he works on the development of so-called free electricity or battery-free electromobility. Thank you all.
