Between 2009 and 2019, he studied art history and cultural history at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava (Ph.D.). He works at the Faculty of Education of the University of Ostrava, where he also serves as Vice-Dean and Assistant Professor at the Department of Art Education. Koudela is a poet, prose writer, curator of contemporary Central European art, contemporary art theorist, and visual artist. In his visual work, he focuses on the interplay between text and image, exploring the transformation of language into visual form. He further develops this approach through digital and video formats, where he reinterprets traditional poetic structures in a contemporary multimedia context. In his literary work, he uses the pseudonym Jan Vrak. At the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, he founded the publishing house M.U.K.L. In 1992, he co-founded the publishing house Votobia in Olomouc, which he led until 2005. His artistic work also addresses themes of interpersonal relationships and social, political, and cultural connections.
