Jiří is Director of the Public Procurement Department at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic. After working at the Ministry for Regional Development as Head of Public Procurement Methodology, he has been developing his practical experience since 2014 at the Ministry of Agriculture. Here, along with his team, he organises tenders for his ministry as well as central procurements, and oversees tenders for 35 sub-organizations, including the Czech Forestry Commission and the State Agricultural Intervention Fund. The Ministry of Finance was also inspired by the control system he established in the government's Public Procurement Methodology. He was the initiator of the preliminary market consultations which since 2014 have become a common part of the larger or more demanding ministry contracts. He is also an advocate of responsible public procurement, employing jobseekers in the public procurement sector and of suppliers creating internships for university students. His local approach to project management and meaningful procurement has been inspired by two visits to the UK. He is a member of several government working groups on public procurement.
